Startline Motor Finance are looking to appoint an experienced and self-motivated Credit Decisions Analyst/Underwriter to join the team.

Reporting to the Credit Decisions Team Leader, this role will involve evaluating finance proposals and making effective underwriting decisions within agreed mandate levels and company policies. Startline operates within the near prime market segment, whereby the majority of our customers have some form of light prior adverse credit history with less stability.

Key Activities:

  • Evaluation of motor finance proposals using the appropriate credit reference data and fraud prevention techniques
  • Liaise and assist other team members regarding underwriting recommendations and decisions when required
  • Ensure decisions are delivered in line with agreed deadlines and service standards
  • Ensure all referred proposals have relevant procedural checks, both system and manual as necessary e.g. Credit Reference Bureau, CIFAS etc.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of current Credit Decisions policies, guidelines and compliance requirements
  • Remain vigilant to suspicions or evidence of fraud or anti-money laundering activities, ensuring immediate notification to relevant bodies


Skills, Experience and Qualities:

  • Previous experience operating within a financial services background is essential, an understanding of credit reference data and calculating affordability would be advantageous
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required
  • Comfortable using IT Systems and processes
  • Awareness and understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements such as the Consumer Credit Act, TCF and DPA
  • Ability to interpret both personal and business credit reference reports
  • Can work under pressure and able to multitask
  • Ability to plan and organise
  • Flexible, adaptable and transparent in style
  • Attention to detail with strong numerical and analytical skills
  • A team player
