We are looking to appoint a motivated and experienced individual into the role of Head of Credit Decisions.

The Head of Credit Decisions (“HoCD”) is responsible for leading the Credit Decisions function ensuring that this is delivering market leading service levels to our introducers.

The HoCD is responsible for motivating the team and ensuring that all resources are aligned with business requirements.  In addition, they are accountable for shaping all aspects of the function and optimising performance to maximise contribution to the business.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the underwriting team ensuring staff are motivated and operate in a manner consistent with Startline values.
  • Shape all activities within Credit Decisions ensuring they are aligned to deliver strong service levels to our introducers.
  • Ensure an effective and balanced control framework is maintained across the Credit Decisions function.
  • Work closely with Risk Analytics to support wider credit risk analysis to identify new credit opportunities or threats.
  • Ensure that an effective oversight framework is maintained which provides assurance over the quality and accuracy of relevant Credit Decisions activities.
  • Lead all activities to ensure the provision of accurate and complete management information which should form the basis of regular interaction with the Chief Risk Officer.
  • Work closely with other department across the business to ensure effective coordination and collaboration as it applied to cross function activity.
  • Maintain a thorough and up to date knowledge of the motor origination industry, applicable legislation and represent Startline at relevant industry and investor forums.

 

Skills, Experience and Qualities:

  • Degree preferred
  • Proven track record of leading and motivating a team
  • Significant and recent credit risk experience within a consumer environment (preferably motor)
  • Sound knowledge of the principles and application of risk management and FCA compliance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail with strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Open and transparent style
  • Positive mindset with continuous improvement approach
